A Beautiful Mind

When Billy is in the hospital next to Rumfoord and Lily he, in his "sleeping" state, speaks out "if you're ever in Cody Wyoming, just ask for Wild Bob." this quote was said to Billy by the dying colonel in chapter 3. The situation being observed in "real time" by those two but a very different point by Billy, could Billy be playing out the roles of the characters while being unstuck in time? Also, how does that quote relate to his travel in that he said in chapter 3 "i was there. so was my old war buddy, Bernard V. O'hare....(chapter 10)
